Ragnar Th Sigurdsson and Ari Trausti Gudmundsson
founded the publishing firm ARCTIC BOOKS in 1996 and their first book
was Vatnajökull; ice on fire, on the recent volcanic
activity in the Vatnajökull ice cap and the subsequent catastrophuic
flood. In 2000 the firm published a widely acclaimed book on Reykjavík
(Into a new millennium). |

In
1995, Ragnar Th Sigurdsson published a well-received book and awarded
on Icelandic glaciers with Ari Trausti Guðmundsson. In 1996, he
and Ari Trausti published a bestseller on the recent volcanic, subglacial
activity in the Vatnajökull ice cap. In 2000 the due made one
more book, this time on Reykjavík, the nation´s capital
in context with Reykjavík being one of the cultural cities
of Europe that year
